Welcome to Lost Arts Academy!

Lost Arts Academy is the creation of Donovan and Karla Selman. The Selmans began to witness a true deterioration of the socio-economic status of many of the neighborhoods in Houston that had large minority populations. After many conversations, it was determined that many of the issues that they saw plaguing these communities as LACK. A lack of exposure to new and different experiences, a lack of various types of education, a lack of self-development opportunities and an overall lack of life skills awareness and education. It was at this point that the Selmans decided to find a way to help change the trajectory of these communities and more importantly the family trees of the residents of Houston. Lost Arts Academy was born from their desire to see youth, adults, families, and communities succeed by learning some foundational principles that have been lost over time. The days of youth sitting at the kitchen table and learning to budget by watching their parents has passed, the reality that many families do not have conversations about investing and entrepreneurship due to a lack of exposure is prevalent among communities of color, and the clear indication that physical and mental health/wellness has taken a backseat in the lives of millions of Americans can be seen on television and the internet every single day.

The hope of Lost Arts Academy is that with knowledge sharing and opportunity exposure, these trends can be reversed, one youth, one adult, one family and one community at a time.
